Jeff Makin
Jeff Makin was born in Wagga Wagga, NSW, in 1943. He Julian Ashton's School of Art in Sydney in 1961, followed by four years at Sydney Teachers College and the National Art School in Sydney.
He has been an art teacher at various institutions in Sydney and Melbourne since 1968, including the National Art School in Sydney, Prahran College of Advanced Education, Melbourne and RMIT University, Melbourne. He was also Artist-in-residence, Edinburgh University, in 1990. He was art critic for Herald Sun, Melbourne from 1972-82, a position he returned to in 1997.
He has exhibited in galleries throughout Australia since 1967, and he has received commissions from the Federal Airports Corporation (two large paintings in VIP Lounge, International Airport, Sydney), Commonwealth Savings Bank (for the World Trade Centre, Sydney) and the Hilton International, Brisbane, among others.
His work appears in many public, corporate and private collection throughout Australia.
