LARRY YOUNGSON -
Santorini Art Studio in Esperance
Born 1952 Perth WA - memories - Margaret River at grandparent's pie shop. Travelled and worked around Australia. Settled in Byron Bay, NSW. Country surf, back to nature lifestyle.
Graphic Artwork, Signwriting. Byron Bay's first surf shop San Juan Surfboards. Owned and managed Sunrise Signworks from 1975 - 1995. Involved in Adult Education in Art, Design and Calligraphy.
Started and managed Bangalow Old Theatre Art Gallery - Exhibited.
Community Art Projects, restoration of Bangalow historic township.
Worked on projects with the Byron Shire Council.
Became interested in Balinese architecture, painting, sculpture and lifestyle. Built contemporary Bali style house in Byron Bay with architect Greg Tollis. Inspired by Jerry Cook, architect who followed his dream and became a contemporary artist in Byron Bay.
Travelled to Japan, Italy, the Greek Islands, inspired by Greek architecture, particularly Santorini Island.
Decided to move to Esperance WA and built a Greek Villa with art studio and gallery overlooking the ocean.
Design and installation of glass & tile mosaic at Bay of Isles Leisure Centre.
Member of "The Cannery" artists in Esperance.
